Frasers Hospitality demonstrates commitment to growth with appointment

ASAP Operator Member Frasers Hospitality has announced the appointment of Darryl Walker as Commercial Director EMEA, a newly created position  to strengthen the group’s commercial focus across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Bringing over 20 years of experience in the extended stay sector, Walker will oversee all commercial departments across the EMEA region at Frasers Hospitality, working closely with the head office and leadership teams to drive topline performance, improve distribution, and unlock new growth opportunities.

Walker has previously held a series of senior leadership positions, including most recently at edyn – leading the global distribution strategy across brands such as Locke, SACO, Cove, Wittenberg, and Moorgate, and overseeing a partner apartment network of over 80,000 units worldwide. He has also played a key role in the sector through his work with ASAP (The Association of Serviced Apartment Providers) over the past two years, where he continues to serve as Deputy Chairman to support the wider industry.

Commenting on the appointment, Rebecca Hollants Van Loocke, Chief Operating Officer of Frasers Hospitality for EMEA, said: “ Darryl’s appointment represents a significant step in the commercial evolution of our business. His deep technical knowledge, strong leadership and strategic mindset makes him the ideal person to elevate our commercial performance across the region. This newly created role is essential to aligning our resources, understanding our markets and sharpening our commercial edge.”

Since joining Frasers Hospitality, Walker has been meeting with the general managers and teams of the properties within the region, focusing on understanding local challenges and identifying opportunities to add value. He brings a strong belief in data-led decision-making, meaningful brand partnerships, and local activations that can resonate with today’s traveller, while driving commercial impact.

His priorities over the next 12 months include enhancing online distribution, expanding market reach, and positioning Frasers Hospitality to meet the rising demand for accommodation in EMEA from key growth markets – particularly Asia, which he sees as pivotal over the next decade.

Walker said:  “I’m thrilled to join Frasers Hospitality, a brand with an outstanding global reputation and a clear commitment to quality and innovation. I’m excited to help strengthen the commercial foundations of the business, work closely with our teams to create long-term value, sustainable growth, and build a happy and cohesive team to deliver results for the business now and into the future.”

ASAP Supplier Member RMS , a leading global hospitality technology platform, has partnered with SUNY Niagara’s Hospitality Management Program to provide students with hands-on experience using industry-leading property management technology. As part of the partnership, students studying at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute (NFCI), a division of SUNY Niagara, will use the RMS platform throughout their Hospitality Management degree, gaining practical experience across key hotel operations including reservations, front desk management, housekeeping, sales, revenue management and reporting. The collaboration supports SUNY Niagara’s transformation of its Hospitality Management Program, which has been redesigned to give students hands-on experience with the technology used across modern hospitality operations. Through dedicated Hotel Operations courses, students will learn both front-line and back-office functions, helping them graduate with practical, workforce-ready skills. As RMS supports operators across all hospitality verticals, students will also gain exposure to outdoor hospitality management, broadening their understanding of the wider industry and creating additional career pathways after graduation. Adam Seskis, CEO at RMS, said: “Hospitality is advancing quickly, and the next generation of talent needs to understand the technology at the center of modern operations. A property management system is the operational heart of any hospitality business, so early exposure to these systems is crucial. “By giving students hands-on experience with real-world hospitality technology, SUNY Niagara is helping develop confident, tech-ready professionals with the practical skills today’s employers need. We’re proud to support that mission and help students enter the workforce ready to contribute from day one.” Daniel DiPirro, Hospitality Management Professor at SUNY Niagara, said: "We are excited to partner with RMS to provide our students with industry-leading hospitality technology. Based at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, our program prioritizes experiential learning, complementing our student-run restaurant, Savor, and bake shop, La Patisserie. We are in constant dialogue with our regional hotel partners, who consistently emphasize the need for workforce-ready talent that requires minimal onboarding. “With the support of the Statler Foundation Grant and our partnership with RMS, we are able to give our students the hands-on training they need to enter the industry with confidence and immediate impact."
