Supercity expands with York aparthotel

ASAP Operator Member Supercity is set to open a new 46-suite aparthotel property in York later this month, on a site previously held by vacant commercial units, including a van hire centre and a restaurant.

 

Supercity’s portfolio includes eight aparthotels across London, Manchester, Leeds, Brighton and Edinburgh, and the company was recently ranked 16th in the list of the top 30 employers in The Caterer’s Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2026 survey.

ASAP Supplier Member RMS , a leading global hospitality technology platform, has partnered with SUNY Niagara’s Hospitality Management Program to provide students with hands-on experience using industry-leading property management technology. As part of the partnership, students studying at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute (NFCI), a division of SUNY Niagara, will use the RMS platform throughout their Hospitality Management degree, gaining practical experience across key hotel operations including reservations, front desk management, housekeeping, sales, revenue management and reporting. The collaboration supports SUNY Niagara’s transformation of its Hospitality Management Program, which has been redesigned to give students hands-on experience with the technology used across modern hospitality operations. Through dedicated Hotel Operations courses, students will learn both front-line and back-office functions, helping them graduate with practical, workforce-ready skills. As RMS supports operators across all hospitality verticals, students will also gain exposure to outdoor hospitality management, broadening their understanding of the wider industry and creating additional career pathways after graduation. SilverDoor has opened its first dedicated office in Shanghai, China. The business has had a presence in China since 2017, during which time it built a property partner network, established strong local client relationships, and became one of the first serviced apartment providers to offer local Chinese invoicing capability. The new office, located at Raffles City in Shanghai's central business district, signals SilverDoor's commitment to China as a market that rewards local presence, strong relationships, and market knowledge to serve both inbound and outbound corporate demand. The scale of opportunity in China is supported by the business’s own data. SilverDoor’s Q2 2026 figures show China enquiries up year on year, with total reservations doubling over the same period. Demand is running in both directions too: international businesses bringing people into China and Chinese enterprises expanding globally and requiring high quality, compliant, managed accommodation for their internationally- mobile employees. Following the completion of its merger with Synergy Global Housing in 2025, SilverDoor now operates from 15 offices across four continents, serving clients in 143 countries worldwide. The Shanghai office is the first new office to open under the fully integrated business.
