Five-tower Birmingham masterplan tipped for planning approval

Ambitious redevelopment plans including serviced apartments for the former Axis Square in Birmingham, UK, have been recommended for approval subject to a legal agreement.

Proposals for Goods Station near The Mailbox feature five new buildings ranging from 10 to 49 storeys, set around a new urban garden, and will include three residential buildings creating 990 new homes, a 221-room serviced apartment building and a purpose built student residential tower alongside a 17,000 sq ft public food hall.

During construction, the the Goods Station regeneration is expected to create around 485 jobs and contribute £245M to the local economy; once complete, it will generate 185 jobs on-site, generating £2.4M additional council tax for the city and adding £7.8M to Birmingham’s economy each year.
